Framed Vinyl Saying - Wedding Gift

A good friend of mine needed a vinyl saying cut for a wedding gift.  I told her I could throw something together (any chance to craft is a great one, right?).  I'm really liking the look of scrapbook paper behind glass with the vinyl on top - the same way I did the Mother's Day frames

I had a gold Pier One Imports frame from the DI that I bought for a dollar.  I primed and sprayed it white, then distressed it.  I added a black rosette, some little pewter scrapbook trinkets, and white ric rac...

Used my Silhouette to design the vinyl and stuck it on...

Mother's Day Photo Holder #2

I made a second frame last night.  Painted it white and distressed it...

Once I had the black vinyl on I was kind of wishing it was white vinyl...

I added some black ribbon, cord, twine, and white ribbon to help out the black vinyl.  Instead of inking the clothes pins, I just swiped the edges with white paint...

And then, of course, added the fun pictures!...

I love that you could use these for any occasion and swap out "grandma" for friend, sister, mom, brother, aunt, dad, ...the list goes on.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

*Original idea comes from the "Grandma Blocks" over at I Heart Naptime (see below post for pictures of her cute blocks).

Mother's Day Photo Holder

I've been crafting all day, and LOVING it!  It really makes me feel happy.  Does that sound crazy?  With Mother's Day and a couple of sister-in-law's birthdays this week I just couldn't resist making a few things.

A few months ago I came across thee most adorable "Grandma Photo Blocks" over at I Heart Naptime.  I've really been wanting to make them.  I just couldn't figure out how to incorporate the umpteen grandchildren our family has.  Hers look so cute with her two adorable babies...

I thought about making several blocks to stack, or putting a picture on each surface of the block, but ultimately decided to use the saying and go with my own creation.  I had some wooden craft frames that I painted and distressed, then put some textured paper behind the glass, and cut the vinyl out with my silhouette to go on the glass.  I had some vintage lace that my mom had given me, so I put that across the bottom with some black ribbon.  I took miniature clothes pins, inked the edges, then glued them in place with E-600....

I love the texture of this paper!...

The three year old picked some flowers for me today, they made a great photo prop :O)...

And then, of course, I added a few pictures of my babies with room to add in the other grandkids of the family...

His Trash to Her Treasure - Treasure Chest

Does anyone else have a pile of junk they keep meaning to throw out or donate, but they just keep pulling from it for new projects?  Well, I seem to.  The below treasure chest was brought home from my husband's work.  His marketing department used it for something and was going to throw it out.  Our son is really into pirates, so he used it for awhile, but then it just started collecting junk and really didn't look that great.  We were going to throw it out, but then I decided I could fix it up for the 3 year olds room....
I primed and then sprayed it white.  I had removed the rope handles before spraying it - leaving these holes on each side...
I bought these little metal things that you can make belts out of...
I had some satin ribbon, so I pulled it through the holes and tied it to the metal things...
Made for great handles....
I first glued the wide pink polka dot ribbon to the chest, then glued the chocolate grosgrain and tied it on top...
I used the Silhouette to make "Treasures" in dark brown...
Another before...
And after...
You can see that it does have some cracks here and there (just adds character, right?)  It looks so cute in her room!  It's full of her baby dolls and puppy dogs!

Spoiled Absolutely Rotten!

You can imagine my excitement when the below item showed up at my door as a gift from my sweet husband for my birthday!...

But to top it off with this sweet little guy!?....
We lovingly named him Hiccup.  We're big How to Train Your Dragon fans :O).  He is so cute and fluffy and teeny tiny...
You can't even begin to believe the shock I had this morning while leisurely scrolling down through the Whipperberry blog Friday Flair Favorites when I scrolled right into MY OWN PROJECT!  Holy smokes!  Will someone - with a good back - go jump on the nearest couch and scream with excitement for me?!?!  I couldn't even believe it!  Totally made my day...
I'm honestly just so grateful (and very humbled) to have a wonderful little family that is happy and healthy, money to pay our bills, for the recent pain free days I've experienced, and a loving Father in Heaven!  A little icing on the cake occasionally sure does make life fun though!
