Dressin' Up

Since we went to Disneyland for Easter. . .

The girls didn't get a chance to wear the spring outfits that I sewed for Easter.  With the big spur of the moment surprise I also didn't get their headbands finished.  When we got back home I put them together. . .

This one turned out fun. . .

They got their chance a couple of weeks ago to wear the matching pre-shirred dresses to church. . .

By reading this blog, you probably wouldn't guess that I have an absolutely adorable son. . .

He's the Ric Rac in all these Ruffles!  He is getting his own room soon and there will be plenty of "boy" posts coming up.  He also had a birthday that I still need to post a few things about.  I just want to squish him and bite his cheeks - and I often do :O). . .

This sweet girl of mine never misses a chance to pose. . .

This one wishes she had more skirts like these, guess I better get busy! . . .

I need to try my hand at making ties, so that the Ric Rac can join these Ruffles in all the fun pictures for the craft blog!!!

Flower Headband - For Swimming

My daughter went to a swimming party last weekend.  I remembered that my mom had included some bright green lycra in the scraps she had given us.  I grabbed one of our dollar store headbands and made a flower to go with her swimsuit.  She said that it held up great at the party while she swam, but she took it off after awhile because the headband hurt behind her ears.

Do you have any great suggestions for headbands that don't hurt, and stay on at the same time?

1st Pillow Case Dress - Kind of

This sweet little 2 year old is my 3 year olds best buddy!  We are blessed to have her in our home each day...
Of all the kids she seems most interested in what I'm doing with my sewing machine.  She often sits next to me and watches me sew....
With all of the Easter clothes I've been sewing for my girls, today was the first day that she asked if she could also please have a dress...
So, we went to my mom's bucket full of scraps and picked out some material she liked (this is where the "kind of" comes in...I didn't actually use a pillowcase, just cut the material like one).  I made my first attempt to sew a pillowcase dress (originally saw these on Sugar Bee), and of course made a matching folded flower headband...
Doesn't she look adorable?  She's so cute, she could wear anything and be completely irresistible :O).

Sprucin' Up Last Year's Outfit - Pink & Yellow Headband

My mom brought over a bunch of headbands last night from The Dollar Tree for me to put flowers on for my nieces. This morning when the 3 year old was getting dressed I couldn't resist making a matching flower headband. My mom also gave me a bunch of material scraps, there just happened to be PERFECTLY matching material in those scraps :O). This material covered headband came in a set of 6 for 1 dollar, my scraps were free to me - making this headband a whopping 17 cents! This little outfit is from last summer (it's Carter's purchased at Costco for less than 10 bucks) and still fits, YAY! There is enough material though to make a new skirt, and I plan on it!!
